HORSE STYLES TRACKER
WARNING: This section contains spoilers for Gaucho and the Grassland.
Throughout the game, you will be able to unlock new styles for Pingo the Horse by completing riding challenges given to you by Big Serge.
There are three sets of challenges for each region, for a total of 9 unique skins.
CHECKPOINT RACES
In this first set of challenges, you must cross every checkpoint in a set time, until you reach the finish line.
After you have unlocked the associated horse style, you can repeat the race everytime you want to improve your score.
WILD HORSE STYLE
![]()
If you beat the time, I will give you a mount with fire in its eyes and lightning in its hooves.
They say a great girl once tamed this animal.
Description: unlocked in the first riding challenge of Hydrangea Valley
The Wild Horse has a plum-coloured coat, with bright terracotta hair; its muzzle, lower legs and hooves, as well as the saddle and bridle, are all the same shade of walnut. Despite Big Serge’s description, the Wild Horse does not have glowing eyes, and neither is it faster than other horses. Its overall appearance shares some traits with Blaze, who appeared in the Star Stable: Mistfall animates series.
ADVENTURER HORSE STYLE
![]()
Yes! I was there the other day, whistling an old tune, and out of nowhere a beautiful mount appeared.
If you win this challenge, I’ll give her to you as a prize! A partner for any adventure!
Description: unlocked in the first riding challenge of Lapwing Bay
The Adventurer Horse is a fiery silver bay, with blood-red coat and snow-white hair. She has four white socks and coffee-coloured hooves, which are the same hue of her saddle and bridle. Despite Big Serge’s description, she does not require special tunes to be called, and responds to the ‘R’ command like any other horse. She is likely modelled after Epona, the steed of Link in The Legend of Zelda series.
WIND HORSE STYLE
![]()
If you beat the time, you’ll get a mount said to be the spirit of freedom. A wild, yet loyal horse!
This one has the spirit of the wind in its hooves.
Description: unlocked in the first riding challenge of Rolling Hills
The Wind Horse is buckskin dun in colour, as indicated by its barred legs and dorsal stripe, which are tobacco brown. Unlike previous skins, its bridle and saddle are a rich sienna hue. Despite Serge’s description, the Wind Horse is equally as obedient as the other horses in the game. It appears to be a reference to Spirit, the wild mustang from Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron.

HIDDEN LOCATION RACES
In this second set of challenges, you must use a single clue to find a specific landmark in the region.
After you have unlocked the associated horse style, you can repeat the race everytime you want to improve your score.
BLUE CAPE HORSE STYLE
![]()
I have a special challenge. You’ll search for a location here in the region using only one clue.
If you can find it within the time, you’ll win a brand-new decorated mount.
Description: unlocked in the second riding challenge of Hydrangea Valley
The Blue Cape is a light grey horse with black hair and hooves, wearing pastel red bridle and saddle as well as a tasseled ornamental tack with rounded edges, which is slate blue and yellow. It can be unlocked by completing Serge’s special challenge in Hydrangea Valley, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.

RED CAPE HORSE STYLE
![]()
If you want another challenge, I have this one for you to find a location here in the region.
If you can find it within the time, you’ll win a brand-new decorated mount.
Description: unlocked in the second riding challenge of Lapwing Bay
The Red Cape is a brown horse with dark hair and hooves; it dons forest green bridle and saddle, as well as a burgundy and pinkish-grey motive on its head, chest and back, much like the Blue Cape. It can be unlocked by completing Serge’s special challenge in Lapwing Bay, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.
A full solution can be found here.
GAUCHO FLAG HORSE STYLE
![]()
I have this challenge for you. Find a location here in the region with only one clue.
If you can find it within the time, you’ll win a brand-new decorated mount.
Description: unlocked in the second riding challenge of Rolling Hills
The Gaucho Flag is a pure black horse, donning all-black tack; like the Blue Cape and Red Cape, it wears a woven blanket made up of the green, red and yellow colours of the Riograndense Republic. It can be unlocked by completing Serge’s special challenge in Rolling Hills, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.

CROSS-COUNTRY RACES
In this third and final set of challenges, you must race across two or more regions of the Pampas.
After you have unlocked the associated horse style, you can repeat the race everytime you want to improve your score.
HEADLESS MULE HORSE STYLE
![]()
My most special mount, a headless mule! It shoots sparks of fire through the hole where its head should be…
Its hooves are like iron! The violence of its gallop and the sharpness of its neigh can be heard from afar…
Description: unlocked in the final riding challenge of Hydrangea Valley
The Headless Mule is a fiery steed that appears to be dark chestnut in colour, wearing a simple brown saddle. Its neck and hooves are completely ungulfed by flames, leaving behind a trail of scorching heat when running. You can unlock this horse by completing Serge’s final race starting in Hydrangea Valley, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.
A full solution can be found here.
BONE HORSE STYLE
![]()
Have you ever heard of bad luck on a Friday the 13th?
Well, it was on thid route, on a moonless night, that I found a mount that will send chills down your spine!
Description: unlocked in the final riding challenge of Lapwing Bay
The Bone Horse is completely black, save for its starkly white skeleton markings, which cover it from head to tail. It also has a white forelock and dons a simple light brown saddle and bridle, much like the Headless Mule. You can unlock this horse by completing Serge’s final race starting in Lapwing Bay, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.
A full solution can be found here.
ICY HORSE STYLE
![]()
That’s right, going up the highlands! It’s a serious climb, mate.
If you win, you can get a mount I found at the highest and coldest point of the highlands, in the worst winter ever seen.
Description: unlocked in the final riding challenge of Rolling Hills
The Icy Horse is pale turquoise with blue accents; its mane and legs are white, giving it a frosty appearance. It wears a white saddle with indigo undertones, and appears to give off a faint glow. You can unlock this horse by completing Serge’s final race starting in Rolling Hills, which you will need in order to obtain the ‘Skilled Rider‘ trophy.
A full solution can be found here.
